New research and 3D models, published in Geophysical Research Letters, suggest that Europa might have enough heat in its interior to partially melt its rocky mantle, fueling volcanoes on the ocean floor. The reason for Europas hot interior, the authors believe, is due to Jupiters powerful gravitational pull.
