Bushido Saga's weapons are divided into four main categories:Blade weapons: Katanas, Aikuchis, Wakizashis are some of the blade weapons you will find during the game. Most of them are well-rounded weapons, with good values on attack, parry and speed. Some are stronger but slower, like the Nodachi, while others can deliver quick strikes in expense of damage, like the aikuchi.Blunt weapons: These weapons switch the cutting power of the blade weapons for crushing damage. They come in different variations, but are usually less durable than the blade weapons as most of them are made of wood. They also have a slight better parry value tham most of the other weapons. Bo, Jo - and its iron counterpart - and O-tsuchis are some examples of Bushido Saga's blunt weaponsPole Weapons: The best melee weapons to strike enemies before they can reach you. Naginatas and Yaris are the pole weapons you can get at the game and is best used in the beginning of a fight to get you an early advantage.Ranged Weapons: You can't fight up and close with these weapons, but they are excellent choices for stealth killing from afar or weaken your enemies before engaging in combat. Who are the Samurai?A few days ago we spoke a little about Bushido, the code that acts as a waypoint for the samurai. But who are the samurai?The original Japanese word "saburai" means "those who serve in close attendance to nobility", which is a very precise way to define these warriors. However, the samurai were only referrenced as warriors during the 12th century, when they were also trained as officers and strategists of the clans they served.Their origins date back to the final years of the 8th century, when farmers took up arms to defend against the Emperor's tax collectors. Thus, the first samurai families were born.Later, in the 12th century, the samurai established themselves as one of the most prominent social classes in Japan, when they amassed financial, military and political power, as rebellion wars were fought throughout the country. Samurai families would then move on to become the most powerful force in Japan until the Meiji era, when the Emperor forbid the samurai to walk freely with their katana and abolished the samurai class.References to the samurai are quite common in pop culture - including Bushido Saga! -, and that comes as no surprise as around 10% of Japan's society consisted of samurai! However, not all of them were master warriors as is commonly believed. Most frequently, they were positioned as commanders on the battlefield. Bushido Saga - Nightmare of the Samurai is strongly influenced by Japanese feudal history and mythology, something that shows up already in its name.Why is the saga named "Bushido"?Bushido is a combination of the words "bushi", which means warrior, and "do", which means path. Thus, Bushido can be translated as "path of the warrior" or "way of the warrior".In Japan's society, the Bushido was the unwritten code that guided the samurai's actions, similar to the chivalry code for European knights.The Bushido emphasized frugality, skill and courage, but its core values are honor and loyalty to one's daymio. If, by some unfortunate circumstance, a samurai felt as having failed his lord, he would commit "seppuku" or "harakiri", a ritual in which the warrior would kill himself to cleanse the stain of dishonor from his lineage.Oishi is the most honorable among the samurai. Today's #WeaponDay we present the Shuriken The Shuriken is a weapon mostly associated to the Shinobi, although any warrior can use them.In the game, we decided to use the Bo-Shuriken (straight shuriken) as the standard Shuriken weapon type and the "throwing star", called Shaken, as the Shinobi prefered throwing weapon. The Shuriken as the Shaken are very similar in use and power. The Shuriken does a bit more damage but it's slower. They are both anyway faster to shoot than using a bow, making it possible to deal more damage to the enemies if you are agile enough. But he's not the only character in the game and today we present an illustration of Lord Asano, the daimyo Oishi is sworn to protect.While some describe Lord Asano as being a just and good-hearted daimyo, others rather see him as a severe and somewhat tempestuous in nature. The Warhammer Otsuchi is our protagonist at #WeaponDay on Bushido Saga Fan Page.Although an uncommon weapon, the O-tsuchi was also used by the Samurai on feudal Japan.
