Face-to-Face With the DevelopersGreetings Governors, in this Face-to-Face With the Developers, we'll be looking at some of the more hotly-discussed issues in the community. Thank you to everyone who reached out to us! We hope we'll be able to answer your most burning questions.Q1: Will you be adding more quality-of-life tools to the game, like a speedup/resource calculator or kingdom management tools?A1: We've already finished designing speedup and resource calculators, and will launch them as soon as we're able.As for other QoL tools, we're still collecting player feedback. Based on findings thus far, it would seem that the majority of players are relatively opposed to directly adding a DKP tracker or similar management tools to the game, which is why we still haven't implemented these features.Q2: Why do city themes have debuffs? You should get rid of city theme debuffs. A2: initial plan for city themes was to have a wide variety of buff/debuff combinations, accommodating a range of different playstyles. As time has gone on, and as we've collected additional player feedback, we've started to think that city theme debuffs add little value to the game. As such, we've decided to remove debuffs from all current and future city themes. We expect to implement these changes in a future update.Q3: Will there be more ways to obtain Transmutation Crystals in the future?A3: Yes, we're currently planning more ways to obtain Transmutation Crystals. We'll let you know specific plans as soon as they're confirmed.Q4: Whenever a new formation is added I need to invest a ton of resources into it, even though I haven't finished working on existing formations.A4: We're working on ways to reduce the resources/time required to acquire and replace armaments, without devaluing armaments that players have already invested in. Possibilities we are currently considering include providing more ways to acquire armaments, optimizing the guarantee system, adding the ability to convert armaments into other formations, and more.Q5: Constant KvKing is stressing me out. It's hard to build up the required resources in the offseason.A5: KvK is a core aspect of the game, but we want it to be fun for players, not a source of undue stress. We're aware that constant KvKing can be stressful for players who don't have enough time to gather resources in the offseason.In a future update, we plan on adding a partial refund of healing resources. At the end of each KvK, you'll be refunded a percentage of the resources you spent on healing units during the KvK. We hope this mechanic will make KvKs less costly and make it easier to prepare for the next one.Q6: Individual KvKs are too long, with a lot of long boring stretches in the middle. Will you be shortening them?A6: We're currently looking into ways to shorten the KvK season and its related events. goal is to trim unnecessary time from the season without affecting the core KvK experience. Once we've confirmed plans, we'll announce them in another Face-to-Face and collect your feedback.Q7: The KvK matchmaking algorithm needs to be fixed. I don't want to have to disband units and kick out non-combatant players just for KvK matchmaking.A7: In the current matchmaking algorithm, power is not the only factor that is considered, and troop power actually has very little impact on a kingdom's matchmaking rating. In addition, only players who have reached a certain level of activeness in recent KvKs will be factored into their kingdom's matchmaking. We are currently designing a new algorithm that will no longer factor in troop power. It'll also optimize the way we determine which players are "active" and should be factored into matchmaking.Besides adjusting the matchmaking algorithm, we've recently added the new Vacation Permit feature to facilitate kingdom management. We're also considering adjusting the number of Vacation Permits given to each kingdom based on kingdom activeness and giving a Passport Page discount to players on vacation.Q8: The threshold for being an Imperium Kingdom is too low. Every time we want to take in new players we need to massively cut troop power.A8: In a recent update, we introduced new special immigration rules, which we hope will help alleviate some of the problems Imperium Kingdoms have had with taking in new players. We'll be paying extra close attention to this issue. Once everyone has had time to experience the new rules, we'll collect as much feedback as we can and look into further optimizing them.Q9: Will there be more ways to acquire Passport Pages in the future? Even though you can theoretically buy them in the Alliance Shop, most alliances aren't willing to spend their Alliance Credits to restock them.A9: In the future, Passport Pages in the Alliance Shop will automatically restock every week, which should make it easier for players to acquire them.Q10: This is supposed to be a mobile game, but as of right now using mobile controls puts you at a disadvantage against people playing on PC. Will you be optimizing mobile controls?A10: We've been paying close attention to how the game performs on different platforms. To improve everybody's experience, we will very soon be introducing a new control mode to the mobile version. Like the PC version's mouse controls, this mode will allow you to order a selected troop to attack, march, or attack march with just a single input. Launching with this new feature will be a number of new improvements, such as "Filter Mode". We're looking forward to hearing your thoughts once you try them out for yourselves.Q11: What other quality of life improvements will you be adding?A11: We're in the process of developing several QoL improvements related to exploring the fog, such as being able to send out scouts in batches, faster fog exploration, and the ability to automatically claim village rewards.
