Rules of Klondike Solitaire (Patience)
Solitaire Klondike is a single-player game played with a standard 52-card deck. While some games can be tricky, that's part of the fun, lending to its alternative name, "Patience."
- Tableau Setup: Twenty-eight cards are dealt into seven tableau piles. The number of cards in each pile increases from one to seven from left to right. The top card of each tableau is face-up, while the rest remain face-down. For instance, the first pile on the left has one face-up card, the second has two (one face-down, one face-up), and this pattern continues.
- Foundation Piles: Four empty spaces at the top of the playing surface are reserved for the foundation piles. These are built upon when an Ace becomes available, and cards are stacked in ascending order (Ace to King) within the same suit.
- Draw Pile: The remaining cards form the draw pile in the upper-left corner.
- Gameplay:
- Playable cards include the top cards of the tableau piles and the draw pile.
- Start foundations with any available Ace.
- Move cards between tableau piles by arranging them in descending order and alternating colors (e.g., a black 5 on a red 6, or a red Queen on a black King).
- When the last face-up card is moved from a tableau pile, flip over the top face-down card to reveal a new playable card.
- If no moves are available on the tableaus, draw cards from the draw pile.
- Move cards to the foundations as soon as possible.
- Winning the Game: The game is won when all 52 cards are successfully moved into the four foundation piles, completing each suit from Ace to King.
