Queen Spade
Dive into the classic card game experience with Queen Spade, a timeless four-player game where strategy and caution are key! Often referred to as "Hearts" in many regions, the objective is unique: avoid collecting certain penalty cards, especially the infamous Queen of Spades, to keep your score as low as possible.
Aim of the Game:
The primary goal in Queen Spade is to finish the game with the lowest score. The game concludes when any player's score exceeds 100 points, making every point you avoid crucial for victory.
How to Play:
- Clockwise Play: Players take turns discarding one card at the center of the table in a clockwise direction.
- Following Suit: The first card played in a round dictates the suit that must be followed. If you don't have a card of the lead suit, you may discard any other card.
- Winning a Trick: The player who plays the highest card of the suit led wins the trick. This player then leads the next round.
- Card Order: The cards rank from Ace (highest), King, Queen, Jack, Ten, Nine, Eight, Seven, Six, Five, Four, Three, to Two (lowest).
Scoring (Tally):
At the end of each round, points are tallied as follows:
- Heart Cards: You receive 1 point for every heart card you hold.
- Queen of Spades: This is the biggest penalty! You receive 12 points specifically for holding the Queen of Spades.
- "Control" Bonus: If you manage to win all the heart cards AND the Queen of Spades in a single round (known as a "CONTROL"), you receive no points (0 points), and each of your opponents is penalized 25 points instead. This is a rare and powerful strategic move!
