The goal is to accumulate higher-valued Spade cards than your opponent by playing a higher-ranked card from your hand. For example, if the 3 of Spades is the prize, and you play a 5 while your opponent plays a 2, you win the 3 points. Cards are valued from 1 to 13, with Ace counting as one point.

Strategic gameplay is paramount: an ideal hand sees you playing a card just one rank higher than your opponent's to win the Spade card while preserving your higher-valued bidding cards for later, more valuable Spades.
