Gameplay Essentials:

The core objective is to score points by forming "melds" (sets or runs) and minimizing "deadwood" (unmatched cards) in your hand. Players alternate drawing cards from either the discard pile or the stock pile, then discarding one card. A round concludes when a player "knocks" (ends the round with 10 or fewer deadwood points) or goes "Gin" (knocks with zero deadwood).

Scoring Simplified:

Points are awarded based on the difference in deadwood counts. Going Gin earns a bonus, while being "undercut" (opponent has less deadwood after knocking) results in a penalty for the knocker and a bonus for the opponent.
