Objective & Strategic Gameplay:

The core objective of Gin Rummy, a two-player game, is to score points and be the first to reach an agreed target score (usually 150 points or more). The basic strategy involves improving your hand by forming "melds" and eliminating "deadwood."

Gin Rummy features two types of melds:

• Sets: Three or four cards of the same rank (e.g., three Queens).

• Runs: Three or more cards in sequence, all of the same suit (e.g., 5-6-7 of Clubs).

Deadwood cards are those not included in any meld. Aces are considered low; they can form a set with other Aces but only the low end of runs (A-2-3). Players can form any combination of melds within their hand. A hand can contain three or fewer melds to "knock" (end the round with remaining deadwood) or form a legal "Gin" (end with zero deadwood).
